Komik ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Komik mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App. Please read this policy carefully. By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1.1 Information You Provide

  • Photos and Images: When you create characters, you may upload photos from your device. These images are used solely for generating AI-based character references and comic artwork.
  • Character Data: Names, physical attributes, and descriptions you provide when creating characters within the App.
  • Story Content: Text prompts, story synopses, genres, and other creative inputs you provide for comic generation.

1.2 Automatically Collected Information

  • Device Identifier: We generate and store a random device identifier to associate your content with your device. This is not linked to your personal identity.
  • Usage Data: We may collect information about how you interact with the App, including features used, screens visited, and actions taken.
  • Log Data: In the event of errors, we collect log data including your device type, operating system version, app configuration, and the time and date of your use.

1.3 Information We Do Not Collect

  • We do not require account creation, email addresses, or personal contact information to use the App.
  • We do not collect biometric data or use facial recognition for identification purposes.
  • We do not access your contacts, calendar, or location data.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • Comic Generation: Your photos and text inputs are processed by AI services to generate character references and comic artwork.
  • Local Storage: Character data, comic outputs, and preferences are stored locally on your device for offline access.
  • Service Improvement: Aggregated, anonymized usage data helps us improve the App's features and performance.
  • Error Diagnosis: Log data helps us identify and fix issues.

3. Photo and Image Data

Your privacy regarding uploaded photos is important to us:

  • Uploaded photos are transmitted to our servers solely for the purpose of AI-based character DNA extraction and comic generation.
  • Photos are processed in real-time and are not stored permanently on our servers. Generated style references may be temporarily cached for performance purposes.
  • We do not use your photos for training AI models, facial recognition databases, or any purpose beyond your requested comic generation tasks.
  • Original photos remain on your device and are not uploaded to our cloud storage without your explicit action.

4. AI Processing and Third-Party Services

To provide comic generation capabilities, we use third-party AI services:

  • Image Generation: Your text prompts and character references are sent to AI image generation providers to create comic panels.
  • Text Processing: Story planning and dialogue generation use AI language models.
  • These third-party services process your data according to their own privacy policies. We select providers who maintain appropriate data protection standards.
  • Data sent to AI providers is used only to fulfill your generation request and is not retained by these providers for model training purposes, subject to their respective policies.

5. Data Storage and Retention

  • Local-First Architecture: The App is designed with a local-first approach. Your comics, characters, and preferences are primarily stored on your device using local storage.
  • Server-Side Data: Character data and comic metadata may be synced to our servers for backup and cross-device access. This data is associated with your device identifier, not personal identity.
  • Temporary Processing Data: Data processed during comic generation (images, prompts) is temporarily held during processing and automatically purged within 30 days.
  • Deletion: You can delete all your data at any time through the App's Settings. Server-side data associated with your device identifier will be removed within 30 days of deletion request.

6. Data Security

We implement commercially reasonable security measures to protect your information, including:

  • Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS) for all server communications.
  • Secure cloud infrastructure with access controls.
  • Regular security assessments of our systems.

However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

7. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

The App may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these external sites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any personal information.
